2021 granting update

Granting suspended.png

It is with HEAVY HEARTS that we need to inform everyone that we will be SUSPENDING our GRANTING efforts for May, June, and July 2021. This has been a very tough decision for us to make! We had to cancel two main benefits and our wine night event with COVID regulations which are our major fundraisers. Our HOPE is to have a large turnout for our online raffle, online auction, and bike run (information to come) that would allow us to restart the great work we do for our service area! The current plan is to accept applications for granting for our August cycle if we are able to receive enough funds through our scheduled events. PLEASE know that we are trying our hardest to continue these efforts and understand there are many people affected by this change.

The goal of the organization is to make a difference by aiding those who may be struggling with medical expenses due to illness.

Making a difference by helping others meet their medical needs with compassion because we CARE.

The Cares for Cancer committee was founded in 2006. This committee has diligently worked to raise funding to support those stricken with a medical hardship. In previous years the organization has supplied the majority of it's funds to Riveredge Hospice to assist their efforts of providing end of life care to those in need. In 2011 Cares for Cancer, Inc. was established as it's own 501(c) 3 Non-Profit Organization. With the new status the organization is now able to open it's funding efforts to local individuals struggling with medical expenses due to cancer and other chronic illnesses.

The funding for this organization comes soley from generous donations from our generous surrounding communities, businesses and individuals. The annual Cares for Cancer benefit raises the majority of the funding each year through an amazing meal, raffles, basket raffles, and live auction. The annual benefit is a time for families and friends from surrounding communties to come together for a joyful night to support and honor those who are courageously battling or have lost their battle with chronic illness.
